Privacy policy

The short version: we collect only what we need to give you a salon token or booking: your mobile number, your name and your bookings. The salon you book with sees your name and number. We never sell your data or use it for ads. You can delete your account any time from Profile.

Who we are

BukSalon ("we", "us") is a salon queue and booking service in India. Customers use it to get a queue token by scanning a salon's QR code or to book appointments in the app. Salons use it to run their queue. This policy covers the BukSalon website and our Android and iOS apps.

What we collect

  • Mobile number: to log you in with a one-time code (OTP) and so the salon can reach you about your token.
  • Name: shown to the salon on your token.
  • Email (optional): only if you add it in your profile.
  • Bookings: the salon, services, date and time, token number, bill amount, and any coupon or points used.
  • Rewards: your BukPoints, salon loyalty points and referral code, and who invited you.
  • Reviews you write about a visit, and salons you save as favourites.
  • Technical data: a login cookie that keeps you signed in, an anonymous device ID cookie, and your IP address. We use these to keep your account secure and to stop fake bookings, spam and referral abuse.

Camera: the Scan screen uses your camera only to read a salon's QR code. The image is read on your phone and is never uploaded or stored.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, or payment card or UPI details.

One-time codes (OTP)

When you log in, we send a 6-digit code to your number by WhatsApp or SMS through a messaging provider. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the code. Codes expire after 5 minutes and work only once.

How we use your information

  • To create your token or appointment and show your live place in line.
  • To send you token updates and booking notifications (on WhatsApp or by SMS, as you choose in Profile).
  • To apply coupons, loyalty points, BukPoints and referral rewards.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep the service working and secure.
  • To answer you when you contact support.

Who can see it

  • The salon you book with sees your name, phone number, chosen services, notes and bill for that booking. Each salon sees only its own bookings.
  • Service providers that help us run BukSalon, such as SMS/WhatsApp delivery and hosting. They may use the data only to provide that service to us.
  • Authorities, only when Indian law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Payments

You pay the salon directly by cash, card or UPI. If you use "Pay by UPI", your own UPI app handles the payment. BukSalon does not process payments and never sees your bank or UPI PIN details.

How long we keep data

We keep your account data while your account is active. Security records like OTP attempts are kept only for a short time. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, points, referral code, reviews, favourites and notifications. Salons keep the basic record of past visits (name, phone number, services and bill) for their own accounts, as any shop would.

Deleting your account

Open the app, go to Profile → Delete my account, type DELETE and confirm. Any active tokens are cancelled. If you own a salon on BukSalon, contact us first so we can close the salon account. To ask us to delete your data instead, please use the support contact shown on our Google Play / App Store listing.

Your choices and rights

  • See and correct your name and email in Profile.
  • Choose WhatsApp or SMS for token alerts in Profile.
  • Delete your account at any time.
  • Ask us what data we hold about you, or raise a concern, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed one-time codes, secure login cookies and limits on repeated attempts. No system is perfect, so please keep your phone locked and never share your login code with anyone, including people claiming to be from BukSalon or a salon.

Children

BukSalon is meant for people aged 18 and over. Anyone younger should use it with a parent or guardian's permission.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and let you know in the app.
